High Porosity Polyimide Fiber Separator for Lithium-Ion Battery

Polyimide Fiber Separator is a high-porosity battery separator made from polyimide (PI) nanofiber materials. It provides excellent thermal stability, high porosity, and good electrolyte transport capability for lithium-ion battery research and high-temperature battery applications.

  • High Thermal Stability: Operating temperature range of -160 to +350℃.
  • High Porosity: Porosity ≥35% with 0.6 ± 0.2 μm average pore diameter.
  • High Mechanical Strength: Tensile strength ≥80 MPa (MD) and ≥60 MPa (TD).
  • Battery Applications: Suitable for secondary lithium batteries and high-temperature battery research.

Handling & Cell Assembly Notes

The following recommendations are provided for battery assembly processes:
  • Before cell assembly, the PI separator can be baked above 100℃ for 2–3 hours to remove moisture.
  • Cell components may require drying above 100℃ for approximately 24 hours until no residual moisture is detected.
  • Electrolyte filling amount may need to be increased by approximately 5–8% compared with conventional separators.
  • After standard constant-current and constant-voltage formation, two additional cycles are recommended to further activate electrode materials.
  • During the winding process, avoid excessive separator stretching and reduce equipment tension.
