This product is sold per kg.

Solvay Solef® 5130 is an ultra-high molecular weight and ultra-high viscosity polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) grade specifically engineered as a high-performance binder for xEV traction batteries. By synergizing ultra-high molecular weight with polar functional groups distributed across the polymer chain, Solef® 5130 creates reinforced intermolecular interactions.

This unique structural design delivers unparalleled adhesion to both active materials and current collectors. It allows battery manufacturers to significantly reduce binder content, thereby maximizing energy density, lowering internal resistance, and ensuring long-term cycling stability even in aggressive electrolyte environments.

Processing, Storage & Handling

  • Dissolution Guidelines: Processing is critical to battery performance. Solef® 5130 should be dissolved in an organic solvent such as NMP. To optimize efficiency and prevent clumping, the PVDF powder must be added slowly to the solution under continuous stirring.
  • Mixing Optimization: The dissolution kinetics are highly dependent on mixing speed, stirrer geometry, and temperature. Slight heating of the solution can significantly reduce dissolution time.
  • Environmental Control: It is strictly advised to use dry materials and solvents, and to operate in a tightly moisture-controlled (dry) environment to ensure optimal dissolution and prevent contamination.
